- Population: 37,018
- Founded: 1836 AD
- Reason for Existence: Industrial parts manufacturing. Cigars, Wisconsin at one time grew tobacco quite a bit actually. Rock River runs through the middle of town supplying power for pre-industrial mills. Fur trading.
- Reasons to Come: Need gas to complete the drive to Chicago. Beloit College is actually a gorgeous little campus. River walk trail is worth, well walking. A city in the mist of re-identifying itself, but losing its past. Just a pleasant little city to walk around in, not the bad connotations that seem to attach themselves to when Wisconsin people speak of Beloit.
- Reasons Not to Come: One wrong step or steps and you can find yourself in Illinois. One to many Chicago Bears fans, I saw two jerseys. A lover of rivers with crystal clear water where at the depth of 10ft one can see the river bed. An adrenaline junkie looking for a fix.
